Backpackers of the world unite!Well we are pleased as punch (with a miniature umbrella and everything) at Crashpadder HQ – because the lovely folks at GoBackpacking.com have written a piece about your very own Crashpadder! Alongside such travel treats as Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Bond’s Greatest Travel Moments you’ll find Crashpadding: Couchsurfing for “Grown-Ups”. It’s a great piece, written by the well-travelled Lindsay Clarke. She has spent the last three years trotting around the world (three times if you don’t mind) – so she sure knows her stuff when it comes to travel. Our challenge at Crashpadder is to educate people that there is an alternative to hotels, which is not only budget-friendly, but also environmentally friendly – and in fact friendlier all together. Every day new people stumble across us but every little helps, so a big thanks goes out to GoBackpacking.com for helping to spread the word! Happy travels guys!
London goes green this spring! This April the fantastic UK AWARE exhibition will be taking place at London Olympia and we couldn’t be more thrilled to support it! UK AWARE is the UK’s only green and ethical lifestyle exhibition. Its purpose is to unite businesses, organisations and individuals – and give them a forum to share products, inspiration and advice on living and working more sustainably, without having to sacrifice lifestyle or comfort. What can you do there? This year visitors will be treated to all manner of ingenious innovations and developments.
Roll up, roll up! I think you might be able to see where I’m going with this… Crashpadder gets a big green thumbs up! They suggest that people visit Crashpadder.com to find accommodation that is not only eco-friendly but budget-friendly too. Like us, they think that it is preferable to stay with a friendly local in their spare room than to book a bed in an uncomfortable hostel or an over-priced, environmentally unsound hotel. Are hotels that bad for the environment? The science behind it is pretty simple, while hotels have to maintain rooms and services that are often left unoccupied and wasted, people’s homes are always in use and as such it makes very little difference to the environment to pop an extra person under the same roof. The principle of opening your home to strangers in the spirit of good will and collaboration obviously ties in with the principles of UK AWARE. We like to think that both are hoping to make the world a better and friendlier place, and allow us to move through it in as positive a way as we possibly can! To find out more about the UK AWARE event, arrange tickets or even book an exhibition slot for your business or organisation why not visit the UK AWARE website. |
