Accommodation for passengers stranded by the Eurostar suspension

An hour ago it was reported that the Eurostar has suspended all services this morning. Whilst no reason has officially been given for this there has been speculation of a freight train fire in the Euro Tunnel. All they have said is that there is a problem with the CO2 censor which could indicate a fire somewhere. The first indication suggests that the delays may only be 90 minutes, but there are no guarantees…

Anyway if you’re stranded in Ashford, Ebbsfleet or London you may want to check out Crashpadder.com for a place to stay – our members are read to step in and help!

Top 10 Banksy locations in London, walking tour #2

…and here are the final 5 locations for some of Banksy’s best-known works of street art in London (if you missed the first 5 Banksy locations you can take a look at them here). Collectively they form the lengthier part of the 10 mile walking tour. With the sun coming out as I type there’s no excuse – dust off your comfiest shoes (of bike if you’re that way inclined) and hit those streets.

Once again, you can see Banksy prints all over the web, books, magazines and on T-shirts and postcards in markets across London but the best way to appreciate this stencil art is to see the originals for yourself…

6. Yellow lines flower painter, Bethnal Green

Located on the side of a working mans club at the corner of Pollard Row and Pollard Street.

7. Grafitti painter, Hackney

8. Banksy Pledge Your Allegiance To Tesco, Dalston

Located on the side of a Pharmacy in Essex Road opposite an old art deco cinema.

9. Banksy Blur Crazy Beat Art Work, Stoke Newington

Banksy’s art used for Blur’s Crazy Beat single. Located on a side of a building in Stoke Newington Church Street.

Top 10 Banksy locations in London, walking tour #1

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 5 years you will probably heard of Banksy, the notorious street artist who has risen from gutter rat to art world luvvie in the past decade. Whilst Banksy’s identity is unknown, he is believed to hail from Bristol, UK where he started his graffiti career back in the 1980’s having decided his apprenticeship in the local bakery wasn’t going to get him where he wanted to be…

Increasingly becoming a ‘Marmite’ brand people seem torn between an appreciation for his anti-capitalist satirical street art and his rapidly filling coffers – Banksy artwork now regularly sells for tens of thousands of pounds. Just Google Team Robbo to read what one of his biggest critics has to say! The most expensive ever Banksy piece was Space Girl & Bird which fetched over £288,000 at Bonham’s auction house in London, roughly 20 times the predicted sale price.

But forget the Banksy prints, the pirated T-shirts and the bloke flogging pictures in Spittalfield’s market for £10, if you really want to appreciate some real Banksy street art you need to hit the streets and check out the real deal.

Below is part 1 of the top 10 Banksy locations in London, which, if viewed in order, also form a rather lovely 10 mile walking tour of Central, North and East London’s most colourful neighborhoods including Camden, Hackney, Stoke Newington and Dalston. Naturally if you’re coming from further afield you may want to check out some cheap places to stay whilst you’re in town…
